Mamta Kumari – From Survival to Self-Reliance
ITI GURUGRAM
Business Name- Krishna Beauty Hub
Mamta Kumari’s journey is a powerful example of courage, resilience, and self-belief. Born into a family with limited means, life tested her strength from a very young age. At just 5 years old, Mamta lost her father. Her mother became the sole provider, working tirelessly to support Mamta and her elder brother. Despite the hardships, they slowly began to find some stability—until tragedy struck again.
At the young age of 9, Mamta lost her mother too. Left with no parental support, she moved to Gurugram with her brother, who took on the responsibility of raising and educating her. With determination and his support, Mamta completed her education up to Class 12.
In 2020, Mamta got married, hoping for a new beginning. However, her married life turned out to be deeply challenging. She faced domestic violence and emotional neglect, which took a severe toll on her mental health. Being unemployed and isolated at home made things worse, pushing her into depression. At her lowest point, Mamta attempted suicide by setting herself on fire. Thankfully, she was rushed to the hospital in time, and doctors were able to save her life.
This incident became a turning point.
Mamta made a brave decision—to step away from a life that was breaking her and start anew. Choosing self-respect over suffering, she began living independently. However, survival was not easy. She started working in a salon, earning just enough to meet her basic needs.
Determined to build a better future, Mamta decided to upgrade her skills. She enrolled in an ITI Gurugram and chose cosmetology as her trade, aiming to gain professional certification and increase her earning potential. During her time at ITI, she came across the InShakti Foundation, which is supported by M3M Foundation and joined their Vyapower – Entrepreneurship Program.
This experience transformed her outlook.
Through the program, Mamta discovered her own potential. She began to believe in herself—not just as a worker, but as a future entrepreneur. With the support of around Rs. 7000 for salon chair, banner, guidance, and encouragement from the InShakti team, she developed confidence and clarity about her goals.
Today, Mamta Kumari is a freelance beauty professional and earns 6k to 10k depending on the client’s needs. She provides beauty services and creates beautiful mehendi art, steadily building her client base. More importantly, she carries a dream—of owning her own salon.
With continued support from the InShakti team & M3M Foundation, Mamta has set up her own small salon in Gurugram. Here, she has planned to train other females, as well as to give beauty services.
Her journey is not just about survival—it is about rising, rebuilding, and redefining one’s life against all odds. Mamta Kumari stands as an inspiration for many young women, proving that no matter how difficult the circumstances, with courage and the right support, a new beginning is always possible.
