From Self-Doubt to Self-Reliance: Mansi’s Entrepreneurial Journey

Location: ITI HJ Bhabha (HJB), Mayur Vihar
At 26 years old, Mansi, a student of Cosmetology trade at ITI HJ Bhabha, is proving that determination and consistent effort can transform dreams into reality. Balancing her ITI studies alongside the entrepreneurship training provided by InShakti Foundation, Mansi displayed exceptional dedication and resilience in building her own beauty business. Coming from a family of five members, Mansi’s father & brother run a business, while her mother and sister-in-law are homemakers. Although her family was financially stable, she initially struggled to receive support for her entrepreneurial ambitions. Before joining the program, Mansi earned only around ₹1,500–₹2,000 per month through small freelance beauty services. Her journey was not easy. She faced multiple challenges including difficulty in finding clients, limited knowledge of marketing, low confidence while approaching people, and inadequate resources for her nail art services. At one point, she went for more than two months without
getting clients. As a nail artist, not having enough product variety often disappointed potential customers, making her journey even more difficult. Mansi joined InShakti’s Vyapower Entrepreneurship program through her ITI and gradually began transforming both her skills and mindset. Through the training sessions, she learned goal setting, budgeting, marketing techniques, confidence building, and the importance of maintaining a positive entrepreneurial mindset. She also gained exposure through stall opportunities at renowned venues including the LinkedIn office and Cross River Mall, helping her interact with customers directly and expand her business network. One of the major turning points in her journey was receiving financial support from InShakti Foundation & M3M Foundation in the form of professional business products, including a professional eyeshadow palette, ring light, and 15 gel nail paints. These resources significantly improved the quality of her services and helped her attract more clients. Starting her business in 2025, Mansi focused on both online and offline marketing, actively setting up stalls and promoting her services consistently. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, she got an opportunity to collaborate with Footlocker( A shoe brand) to set up her Nail Art stall in one of their stores at a mall for 2 days. With time, her confidence grew, and so did her customer base. Today, her business is running successfully, and clients appreciate both her products and services. Her monthly income has now increased from approximately ₹1,500 to nearly ₹10,000 per month – a remarkable milestone that reflects her hard work and perseverance. More importantly, the same family that once hesitated to support her business journey now proudly stands beside her and celebrates her growth. Looking ahead, Mansi dreams of continuing her freelancing work in nail art, makeup, and hairstyling while expanding into customised nail kits by collaborating with vendors. Her long- term vision is to establish her own beauty shop and eventually open an academy where she can train and empower other aspiring women beauticians. In her own words: “Empowered women don’t just build businesses; they build legacies. Proud to grow with the support of the InShakti Foundation and M3M Foundation.” Mansi’s story is not just about income growth – it is about confidence, persistence, and the courage to believe in oneself despite challenges. Her journey stands as an inspiration for many young women aspiring to become financially independent and create their own identity. Recent Update: She is currently working at Aashi Salon, Noida Sector 62, to further enhance her nail art skills and is earning ₹18,000 per month. Alongside her job, she has started providing makeup training to one of her students, from which she will earn ₹15,000 per month. She is also taking up freelance makeup assignments to expand her experience and income. She plans to register her business on the Udyam Portal soon.
